How The Broker House (OMC) Ltd, trading as Broker House, collects, uses and protects your personal data
Version 2.0 · July 2026 · This notice is published at www.thebrokerhouse.co.uk/privacy-policy and provided to clients at engagement.
The Broker House (OMC) Ltd, trading as Broker House, is a property and business finance brokerage authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FRN: 1053720). We are the controller of your personal data and are registered with the Information Commissioner's Office under registration ZB997854. Registered office: St. Georges House, 15 Hanover Square, London W1S 1HS.
Directly from you - when you complete enquiry forms, contact us by phone, email or through our website, apply for finance through us, provide documents for underwriting or due diligence, or communicate with us during the broking process. And from third parties - lenders and funders, credit reference agencies, fraud prevention agencies, professional advisers (solicitors, accountants, valuers), introducers and referral partners, identity verification providers, and publicly available sources such as Companies House and the Land Registry.
When you apply for finance, lenders we introduce you to may search your record at credit reference agencies and carry out credit scoring; some initial checks may leave a soft footprint that does not affect your credit score, but a full application to a lender will usually involve a hard search. Information may also be shared with fraud prevention agencies; if fraud is identified, services may be refused. Each lender's own privacy notice explains its use of your data, and we will tell you which lenders receive your application.
We do not sell your personal data. We share it only as needed with: lenders and funders you ask us to approach; valuers, solicitors and other professionals involved in your transaction; our service providers (CRM, e-signature, identity verification and IT providers) acting under contract; credit reference and fraud prevention agencies; introducers, only to the extent needed to manage the referral; our insurers and professional advisers; and regulators, the Financial Ombudsman Service or law enforcement where required.
We do not routinely transfer personal data outside the United Kingdom. Where a service provider stores data outside the UK, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (UK adequacy regulations or the UK International Data Transfer Agreement/addendum).
| Client files (advice, disclosures, correspondence) | 6 years from the end of our relationship |
| Identity and anti-money laundering records | 5 years from the end of our relationship |
| Complaints | 3 years from resolution (6 years where relevant to redress) |
| Enquiries that do not proceed | 2 years |
| Marketing preferences | Until you withdraw consent or 2 years of inactivity |
We protect your data with access controls, multi-factor authentication, encryption in transit and at rest through our providers, staff training, and due diligence on the providers we use. We never ask you to send original identity documents by post.
We do not make decisions about you by automated means. Lenders may use automated credit scoring when assessing your application; their privacy notices explain this and your rights in relation to it.
You have the right to: access your data; correct inaccurate or incomplete data; request deletion; restrict or object to processing (including objecting to marketing at any time); data portability; and to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. To exercise any right, contact us using the details below - we will respond within one month. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113, although we would welcome the chance to resolve any concern first.
